Cooking Up Clickbait |

This week we will be exploring what content creators do to get people to engage with their content, and how they keep them there. Remember, creators make more money when their viewers stick around, and so do the social media companies, so it's in their best interest to hook you in.
After we complete a fun headline mad lib activity, you will have an opportunity to create your own engaging video, mimicking something you've seen online.
The goal will be for you to create something that me and your peers would want to keep watching for a full minute. You can choose the content (keep it appropriate!) - but you need to use engaging techniques to keep us hooked.

The Influence of Algorithms |

Social media is powered by algorithms, which are complicated mathematical formulas that tell a computer what to do in a given situation. As far as social media is concerned, algorithms work to recommend what content you see next.
Are algorithms good or problematic? How are algorithms impacting your world? Watch the video below and write your responses on the handout.
