Core French
Numbers to 100 (we will focus up to 40)The goal of this week is to be able to say birthdays en français when we come across them. This will help us read the "petit livres" we made out loud more comfortably.
We will look at and learn the numbers to 40, play some games, and do a survey of friends to practice speaking our own birthdays, but also those that are not our own. |

Numbers to 20Now that we know the months of the year, we need some understanding of our numbers so we can actually speak intelligently about "la date de ton anniversaire." :)
We will learn the numbers 1-20 first and then add in the numbers from 21-31 gradually, for those who have birthdays later in the month than the 20th. The key numbers to know are the first 20, because everything afterward certainly builds upon them. |

Introduction to Core French
We have begun our Core French introduction unit! We will be reviewing content from Grade 5 such as common phrases and questions as well as learning to describe ourselves and our friends. The learning environment will be low-key, relaxed, and exploratory in nature. We will play games, listen to songs, create simple projects, and try to find cognates to aid in our understanding. Cognates are simply words that look or sound so much like the English word that we can easily translate them and make meaning!
Try listening to the video to the right as we review the months of the year. We will be using the months of the year to state our birthday, or anniversaire, en Français! See the core vocabulary base page below to identify sentence stems that can help you with your French speaking and writing. |
