Olympic Pictograms
The Winter Olympics are here! As the opening ceremonies start up in Pyeongchang, South Korea this week, we will be focusing on some Olympic-based artwork. We'll be basing our work off of the Olympic Pictograms, much like the ones seen below:

We will be trying to depict a sport through action of a generic characters. No matter the language someone speaks, they should be able to tell what type of sport the character is doing!
But we'll do a little more to jazz up our characters, based on the work of the artist Mondrian. He used balance and colour in his art to show contrast. Here is an example of one of his works, where we can see a balance of colours across a canvas. He was also known for using geometric balance as well. Our twist? We can add texture to our character too! This post has a great example of what we are trying to do (it is what this project is based off of!).

Aboriginal Art Mosaic - Anthologies
Glue your orange shirt in the middle of the page. Around the page, use the Aboriginal shapes we learned to create an Pacific Northwest Aboriginal Art mosaic. What might that look like, you ask? Take a look below for some inspiration or create your own designs by putting the shapes together!
CRITERIA: You may only use the traditional colours of the medicine wheel to colour your mosaic: black, white, yellow, and red. |
Anthologies

Welcome to your anthology! We will be using these books to document our year, keeping projects of importance and compiling all of the art that we create.
On our first page, we will be creating a "name tag" of sorts. But not just any name tag. It should be modelled after this one to the right, but you can add a little twist to yours! Just don't forget to put your name on your name tag in some kind of fancy lettering! Check out the ones below to see if they inspire you:
