Hello parents of Division 1,
This post is to address some midterm updates and communications from our classroom. There are quite a few items on the list, so I've tried to keep every point short and sweet. If you need more information on anything, please do not hesitate to email me.

This post is to address some midterm updates and communications from our classroom. There are quite a few items on the list, so I've tried to keep every point short and sweet. If you need more information on anything, please do not hesitate to email me.
- COVID Exposure: Most of you have received the message from the school regarding the COVID exposure that took place on October 9th. We reviewed our safety protocols in class today. I shared these with families in a previous post, found here. The class seemed calm and asked very good questions.
- School Supplies & Gym Strip: Please note that earbuds/headphones and a full gym strip (indoor running shoes, shorts or pants, a t-shirt or athletic top, and deodorant) are both on the required list of school supplies for Grade 7. We have PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences: Mrs. Lipp sent home information over a week ago about how to log-in and book parent-teacher conferences. The booking system opened last week and closes this Sunday at 11:55pm. Conferences take place on October 27 and 28th and there is early dismissal at 1:11pm on those days, with conferences beginning at 1:30. Please wait outside our outdoor classroom door. We will be distanced and wearing a mask is encouraged. I'm looking forward to meeting you all!
- Grade 7 Hoodie Orders: The Grade 7 Activewear is now available! Check the previous post on our site for more info. Please have orders in by November 13th!
- Halloween - Students and staff are invited to dress up for Halloween on Friday, October 30th. We will hold a distanced costume parade for the school outdoors, weather permitting. We are asking that families do not send in treats or food, even if they're pre-packaged. Thanks for your cooperation on this.
- Regular Absences and Technology Use: We all know that this year is a unique one. We have had lots of on-again, off-again or chronic absences, and for good reason: our community is protecting one another when we get sick. I thank you all for keeping your children home when they're unwell. However, it has quickly become apparent that this means that students are missing out on either bits and pieces of instruction, or worse, whole weeks at a time.
To adjust for this, we're now using OneNote, Teams, Mathletics, SpellingCity, and our class website quite heavily, and we will continue to do so throughout the year.
If your child is ever absent for any reason, the first place they should look for work is in OneNote. They will be able to find Weekly Assignments in the Content Library, as well as the Weekly Checklist of their completed work. Their personal work should be completed in the folder with their name on it.
I will be releasing more information about how we use these tools - particularly OneNote - in the coming weeks. If your child missed a lot of school this week, I will be reaching out separately today to instruct you on how to access their work from home.
