I am writing to inform you that my doctor has asked me to be on a medical leave a bit earlier than I had intended. My last day before I left on maternity leave was supposed to be this Friday, March 16... so I was very close... but not quite there!
I will still be coming in for about an hour for the class party on Friday to say goodbye to your amazing and incredible kids. I should be around from about 10:45-noon or so. Mr. Oliver has planned a movie afternoon so we will have our food and "party" in the morning instead. If you volunteered your child to bring something, please do send it 😃
This also means I will not be in attendance at conferences; however, I encourage you to still plan to come with your child if you have signed up to do so. For the last 2 weeks, our Div 2 students have been preparing for a student-led conference experience that should give you an excellent snapshot of their progress in term 2. I got very positive feedback from this set-up last year (and I welcome any additional feedback this year as well). After the conference, you are of course welcome to email me with any questions you may have regarding your child's progress. My intention is not to leave you hanging, so please do not hesitate to ask!
While I am sad to be torn away from this talented and thoughtful group of students a bit early, I am excited to begin my journey with my own child. Thank you to all of you for your kind thoughts, words, and support as I've begun this transition with my family. Your children will always be part of my first Grade 6 class and I will never forget them, or you.
Best wishes to everyone,
Victoria (Mrs. LS)
