For those of you who would like to access the activities available for your child's spelling words on SpellingCity.com, this post is for you!

The SpellingCity app is available for both iOS and Android devices. You can also access the web portal by clicking here.

The rest of this post will detail step-by-step instructions of how to navigate the web portal, as well as give reminders about usernames and passwords.

Step 1: Sign-in

So now, you're at the website or in the app. Here are the log-in instructions below:

Step 2: Choose Your List

Use the drop-down menu on your child's assigned lists. Their lists can and will change according to their abilities as the year progresses. This will be assessed by both Ms. Olson and your child in a 1-1 interview every few weeks.

Your child's words should be written in their agenda on the first day of each week. They are expected to practice at school during Language Arts in the morning and may practice at home as well.

When choosing the Spelling Test option, please be sure to choose the Practice Test only. The final Spelling Test may only be taken once at the end of each week.

Step 3: See How They're Doing

If you are wondering what your child's progress is in the area of spelling, click on "My Records" in the top menu on the page. There will you be able to see which activities your child has completed, how much time they've spent on them, and even which words they are struggling with!

Please do not hestitate to contact Ms. Olson if you have any questions regarding the use of the SpellingCity web portal or application for iOS or Android.

Thanks for reading and we hope you check out SpellingCity at home with your child soon!

A Spooooooky Week

This week, the EduMinions had a great week between Halloween activities, our first Mystery Number Skype, solving patterning problems, and painting our mini-pumpkins as Minions!

We'd like to thank Save-On Foods Walnut Grove for their generous donation of 25 mini pumpkins to our classroom.

The students have begun to draft their first blog posts on what it takes to be a positive digital citizen. If you would like to complete the DRAFT COPY at home (leave it unedited please - we are covering editing skills on Monday), you can log-in to our Kidblog site here.
